This series consists predominantly of correspondence but there are also reports, publications, and financial records. The bulk of the series concerns personnel issues and reference requests. There is some documentation of WPA staff members and their projects. The records also contain information regarding the division's involvement with patriotic organizations such as the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames. The division's efforts to have records preserved on microfilm or have photostat reproductions made is documented in these records. Also included is information on the Society of American Archivists' meeting in Montgomery in 1940. The series contains correspondence to and from staff members David L. Darden, Frances Hails, Winona B. Elmore, Virginia K. Jones, and Miriam C. Jones.
